The Greenville News
April 2, 2004
Resin
Solutions, Inc. designed the award plaque given to Mr. Skardon
during the April 2, 2004 ceremony in Clemson, SC. Resin
Solutions, Inc. was recognized at this event for their creation
of the plaque.

This was an exciting event
to take part in, but ultimately it was an honor and a privilege.
To be able to hear the heroic stories and courage of these
soldiers from WWII was something to be held. Not may of
us know what it is to be a true hero.
It will be an event that Resin
Solutions will always remember.
"Man of the hour: Retired
Col. Ben Skardon, 86, was hono red and surprised at a
Clemson Corps Luncheon on Thursday when he was given
a plaque bearing a replica of his 1938 Clemson University
class ring that was sold to a Japanese prisoner of war
camp guard during World War II for a chicken and some
potted ham. Skardon is a survivor of the Bataan Death
March and was a prisoner of war from April 1942 until
August 1945. Skardon still says he owes his life to the
class ring and two other Clemson alumni, Henry Leitner
and Otis Morgan, who boiled the chicken and fed him when
he was near death from malnutrition. Neither Leitner
nor Morgan made it home from the war. Clemson Corps president
Bill Laffoday introduced Skardon."
